Maybe You Don't Need A Job

Maybe you just need a different perspective.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat across from someone who was convinced they needed to start over.

A new company.

A new title.

A completely different career.

Sometimes that’s the answer.

But often, it isn’t the job that’s wrong.

It’s that somewhere along the way, you’ve stopped paying attention to who you are.

Before you update your résumé, ask yourself:

• Do I know what I’m naturally good at?

• What kind of work gives me energy?

• Am I building the career I want, or the one I think I’m supposed to have?

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that most people don’t need someone to hand them a roadmap.

They need someone to help them connect the dots.

That’s one of my favorite parts of coaching.

Whether I’m working one-on-one, leading a workshop, or facilitating a 360° assessment, I love watching the moment when someone sees themselves differently.

Not because I gave them the answer.

Because they discovered it themselves.

Here’s what I know for sure.

I didn’t come from much, and I certainly wasn’t handed a roadmap.

That’s why this work means so much to me.

I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a career they’re proud of, regardless of where they’re starting.

Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective, honest feedback, and someone willing to ask the right questions.

So let me leave you with this.

Before you decide you need a new job, ask yourself if what you really need is a new perspective.
